We want everyone who visits the Intimate Judaism website to feel welcome and find the experience rewarding.
What are we doing?
To help us make the Intimate Judaismwebsite a positive place for everyone, we’ve been using the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0.
These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with disabilities, and user friendly for everyone.
The guidelines have three levels of accessibility (A, AA and AAA). We’ve chosen Level AA as the target for the Jewish Coffee House website.
How are we doing?
We’ve worked hard on the Intimate Judaism website and we monitor the website regularly to maintain accessibility standards, but if you do find any problems, please get in touch.
About our site
Framework
Our site is built with WordPress using Dixie by SecondLine Themes with The Accessibility plugin by One Click Accessibility. There is an accessibility button that can be seen on all of our pages. It gives options for change of contrast, font size and type changes and underlining links.
The plugin includes “Skip” links, When you open a page, the first time you press tab, you will encounter this link.
Content
Podcasts: Our site is based on podcasts. The podcasts reside on libsyn and are linked to from our pages. In order for our podcasts to meet accessibility standards, each podcast has a page with podcast notes, where we offer an overview of the spoken content for the hearing impaired and where the player is accessible.
Images: All images have alternative content unless adding the alternative content would be redundant.
Screen Readers
We are currently running site tests using the screen readers NVDA and Chromvox.
